Chamber luncheon focuses on urban core revitalization

The Augusta Metro Chamber held a luncheon Thursday, where keynote speakers discussed development projects in the area’s urban center.

Hawthorne Welcher, Director of Augusta Housing and Community Development, and Jake von Trapp, partner at Columbia Ventures, were the keynote speakers at an Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Economic Luncheon on Thursday that highlighted the importance of redevelopment.

The focus of the event was the new Beacon Station, an apartment complex formerly known as Foundry Place, and the ongoing revitalization project in the Laney-Walker/Bethlehem area. The apartment complex chose a new name due to an event space on Boy Scout Road named The Foundry at Rae’s Creek. …”
