Foundry Place complex breaks ground

Foundry Place, a 221-unit complex in the historic Laney-Walker/Bethlehem revitalization zone, breaks ground Friday.

From dirt that has lain fallow for decades will soon rise what officials hope will be a beacon to draw people to move to the Laney-Walker/Bethlehem area.

“Welcome to a beautiful day in the neighborhood,” said former Augusta Mayor Bob Young, who heads the Urban Redevelopment Agency of Augusta, which is funding the 221-unit Foundry Place project that held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday. The $30 million public-private project will be funded in part by roughly $27 million in bonds through the agency and by direct investment by partner Columbia Ventures of Atlanta. …”
